Cookie Deco on Mar 2006

Papa Yan Sze was working for a confectionery company, Delica Candy which manufactured candies, cookies for Disney, Marks and Spencers.... On a holiday trip home, he brought back some cookie colouring kits for the kids. Both Jordan and Joshua have a fun time colouring them and eating them too! Thank you, papa!

Baking Sausage Rolls for Halloween Party 2004

Our Northvale Condo was having a potluck party for Halloween. We decided to make sausage rolls drizzled with ketchup to represent bloody fingers to fit in theme. Jordan had fun rolling out the store-bought pastry, cutting up sausages and wrapping them up. At 8, she is quite adept at slicing mushrooms, sausages and ham and throwing together a pizza for her own meal. Good job, Jordan!

Making Rice Dumplings for Duanwu Jie (Dumplings Festival) 2003

Saw this recipe for rice dumplings in newspaper. Jordan knows the story behind this festival: how the great man Quyuan decided to commit suicide by jumping into the river when his advice to emperor fell on deaf ears. The people who loved him wanted to prevent his body from being eaten up by fishes, threw rice dumplings into river. So the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar is marked as Dumpling Festival or also known as Dragonboat Festival. Jordan tried her hand in wrapping glutinous rice with diced chicken and mushroom in bamboo leaves. The wrapped dumplings were steamed using double boiler. They were delicious!
